Anger Management Therapy

Finding the right therapist can be an overwhelming process. In choosing the right therapist I would encourage you to look for a therapist that has extensive experience, specializes in the issues that you need assistance with, and is someone that you could see yourself comfortably talking to.

If you are reviewing my link you are undoubtedly looking for a therapist that focuses on helping their clients manage their anger more effectively.  I have over 25 years of experience working with families, couples, adults and children.  Over the years, I have worked with clients that have struggled with many different issues.  As a therapist, my main area of focus for the past 14 years is working with men on anger management.  I have extensive experience working with clients in both a group setting and individually.

Currently, I have a small private practice located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.  I exclusively work with adult male clients.  All sessions are currently being conducted via telehealth.  I offer individual therapy focused on anger management and skill streaming sessions.  Skill streaming sessions are concise  treatment sessions focused on building anger management skills.

The first step in creating change is doing something different.  Please contact me so that I can help in that process.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get started?

Contact me by phone or email for a free consultation.  Then, we will schedule an initial meeting.  After our meeting, you can choose whether you would like to participate in skill streaming or individual therapy.

What type of therapy do you practice?

I use Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in my Anger Management practice.  This is a psycho-social intervention that aims to improve mental health. CBT focuses on challenging and changing unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and the development of coping strategies that target solving current problems.

How often does the Anger Management Group meet and how soon can I join?

Currently, the group is not meeting.  Both individual therapy sessions and skill streaming sessions are being conducted via telehealth.

I have a pending court case and need supporting documentation to show that I am attending treatment.  Can you provide that?

Yes.  I provide clients with documentation to verify the client is attending Anger Management treatment.  After the client successfully participates in a minimum of 15 successful therapy sessions (not including the initial individual meeting) they are eligible to receive a certificate of completion.  Although, clients are able to continue in treatment beyond a certificate of completion, if they choose.

I have a loved one that I believe needs help with managing their anger.  What is the first step?

First, talk to them about it.  Explain to them your concerns.  If you have questions about treatment feel free to contact me.  Although, the potential client would have to contact me themselves to schedule an initial meeting.

Testimonials

Since 2021, clients that have completed treatment successfully are provided an opportunity to take a survey focusing on how treatment impacted their lives.  Those clients have indicated that they are able to:

  • Mange their anger better

  • Think prior to reacting

  • Recognize when they are having negative thoughts earlier

  • Calmly tell someone when they are upset with them

  • Focus more frequenty on what they can control, rather than what they cannot

  • Disengage from back-and-forth arguments more frequently

  • Feel better about themselves regarding how they handle their anger

  • Indicate that their relationships with those close to them have greatly improved

"I regularly blamed other people for pushing my buttons and making me angry.  I was able to learn to take control back of my own life.  I learned that no one could push my buttons without my permission."

"In treatment I was challenged to break the cycle of how my father took his anger out on our family.  I am proud to say that I am now a better father and husband."

"My wife asked me to start therapy.  I was reluctant to start.  Will was easy to talk with and helped me process what was going on.  We were able to identify treatment goals and I have made changes I am proud of."

"Will is a supportive and positive person.  He helped me with my anxiety and learn different ways to handle my anger."

"After being arrested for an assault I wasn't sure if I could talk to someone about my personal life.  The process was easy to get started.  I learned how my actions effected my family."

"Things were falling apart.  I was angry at work.  I was losing my family.  My own children were afraid of me.  It has been a tough time.  During treatment I was able find small wins in making better decisions.  Things have gotten better. "

"In treatment, we processed skill building.  These skills were both helpful and easy to understand.  Each week we learned a new technique and each one logically connected to the next.  This was incredibly helpful for me to practice these skills outside of sessions in everyday life."

"I found it helpful the way that Will would steer me away from focusing on what other people were doing around me to cause my anger.  He helped me focus back on what I could control and how I could respond.  That spurred a lot of self-reflection and growth."
